Join us for the inaugural Vancouver International Guitar Festival

Guitar builders, players, collectors and aficionados will gather in Vancouver next June for three days of live music, master classes, special events and the opportunity for the public to see, hear and play some of the world’s finest handmade stringed instruments.

VIGF is an international showcase celebrating the art and craft of contemporary guitar making, both acoustic and electric. Master luthiers (acoustic instrument makers) will be available for one-on-one discussions and demos. All instruments on exhibit will be available for purchase and custom commissions welcome. Come and order your dream guitar!

VIGF is presented during the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, one of the world’s preeminent music and arts festivals drawing more than half a million people to 300 concerts featuring 1,800 artists. Partnership with the renowned Jazz Festival allows VIGF to access a vast audience and present live concerts showcasing The Art of Guitar.

Opening day, June 23, features North America’s first Luthier Conference for luthiers and guitar enthusiasts, including presentation of the Industry Builder Award to Jean Larrivee, with his protégés Grit Laskin, Linda Manzer, and Sergei de Jonge in attendence. The day’s program includes roundtable discussions with industry leaders and a lineup of seminars discussing new markets, next generation luthiers, breakthrough technologies and  digital commerce.

June 24 and 25 features the guitar exhibition, presenting the work of over 60 master luthiers from Canada, United States, Europe and Australia. Electrics, acoustics, ukuleles and basses will be on display—from the most avant-garde to the staunchly traditional. Exhibiting luthiers will be present at their booths to provide information about their creative work. In addition, VIGF will host a select number of vendors from the trade, including tonewood suppliers, guitar parts manufactures and music retailers.

The festival venue is centrally located in downtown Vancouver, near historic Gastown and Yaletown and the Waterfront transit hub. During the Jazz Festival, the entire area will be alive with nonstop free outdoor shows.

The main event hall comfortably accommodates up to 75 exhibitors. Six large private rooms are available for classes, instrument demos, music performances and networking sessions.

Vancouver international Guitar festival is the first event of its kind in Western Canada. Join us for this special opportunity to see, hear and play some the world’s finest handmade stringed instruments.
